One could say yes or no and he perhaps would be far from being wrong. Each day that passes has exactly the same amount of hours in it. This is constant. Each year has the same number of days in it, (with minor adjustments). To deny this would not be so smart. But no one could really be sure if the day is going to be sunny or wet. No one can be sure if there is going to be peace or hunger. Change is the order of the universe and it is constantly changing as electrons join and move away from different orbits forming new things. It seems to happen much more slowly in people.

Number Be sure Prosperity The same Peace Minor Overnight So smart Going War Total certainty Wet Chase after

What certainty there can be is that people are not going to change overnight. However, there have been some dreams that have fallen by the wayside. I don't really think that these dreams have died, they are just taking a rest, I suppose and maybe the time not spent on them will be for the benefit of everyone all around, not least of whom is me. I needed to take a respite from dreaming and I might just have done that inadvertently.

Being in Cagayan de Oro City has been a mixed blessing. I have gone and left my old life which was in total freeze mode and I have jumped into something that I never even heard of before in my entire life. In simple terms, I have become involved in farming, something that I am ignorant about and to make matters even more complicated, I have chosen to do natural farming, a new idea which needs to be done in order for the planet to survive.

Home

Mind Control

Controlling the mind involves gaining some kind of control over your attention span. The mind constantly flits from one idea to the other and the self follows it as though it were a butterfly going from one flower to the next. One must gain control over the mechanism of attention and this has been defined as concentration. Concentration is the first step towards gaining control over the mind and is paramount if one were to master one's destiny. If the mind controls the self then the self will not be able to establish any foothold in one's decision-making mechanisms.

deja vu, each, eager, ear, earache, eardrum, earhart, earl, earlobe, early, earmark, earn, earnest, earnings, earphone, earring, earshot, earth, earthen, earthenware, earthling, earthmover, earthquake, earthshaking, earthworm, ease, easel, east, easter, eastern, easy, eat, eatery, eau, eaves, eavesdrop, ebb, ebony, ebook, ebullience, eccentric, ecclesiastical, echelon, echo, eclair, email

Anyway, here's Cagayan de Oro City Are they cut from the same cloth? What differentiates one from the other? Might we consider wishful thinking to be waking dreams but of a lightweight nature that is, without the full backing of our beings. Is this the main difference between the two? What if electrodes were placed on people and measure the brain activity when they were dreaming and/or having wishful thinking, would there be a difference? It is said that dreams happen in the subconscious mind. What about wakeful dreams, would that be the conscious mind participating in the activities of the subconscious mind? Is that at all possible? And in wishful thinking, is the subconscious mind intruding upon the conscious mind?

ballet, banking, basketball, baskets, beatles, bipolar-disorder, blogging, bolivia, boracay, buddhism, building, bukidnon, bulldogs, burma, business-finance, business-jets, butterfly, cagayandeoro, camera-phone, cancer-treatment, cars-trucks,cats, cebucity, celebration, cell-phones, censorship, cherry, china, chingsweb, chocolate, cholera, christ, christianity, coffee, communication, computer-programming, condos, cooperatives, cosmetic-surgery, country-music, credit-cards,

What is this thing which they call meditation, would that be happening in the conscious or subconscious mind? It is said that in meditation, the meditator strives to enter the subconscious mind while fully conscious. In the dream state when one is sleeping and dreaming, the conscious mind is inactive and participates little or nothing at all in the dream except as an onlooker. Very often, dreams fade when the dreamer starts to wake up.

Come into these sites: Squeak Smalltalk Adventure, The Ordinary Life, Politics: Divine Right of Kings and Presidents, Creation, Life, Consciousness.

Lucid dreams are another thing altogether. Maybe the problem is I am expecting too much of my dreams. Maybe I expect the world to give way to my dreams and when the world seems unmoved by my dreams, when it seems not to care at all for the fruits of my creative imagination, I grow increasingly dejected and lose my will to dream.

This is very sad indeed and I grieve for my lost dreams, the fading meanderings of my imagination, trampled underfoot by the cynicism of realistic thinkers who cannot see beyond the concrete walls of their own imprisoned minds. This I know, the death of my dreams means the death of hope for something that soars above the dark clouds, the end of a fruitful life that has survived cynicism and apathy, the struggle of a mind to resist the zombie-like subservience to irrational reactions to something that sees beyond mere seeing. This I know, and this I cannot allow. I will continue to dream, to see things no other eyes could see, to live beyond being wrong as judged by those whose dreams have been hijacked by so-called success.

Ching's World is a dream, a dream that goes beyond the Philippines, of Cebu, Dumaguete and Cagayan de Oro City.

Lucid Dreaming

A lot has been said about lucid dreaming. Many people cultivate lucid dreaming and claim that great benefits can be gained from it. I have tried doing it a few times but I just never got the hang of it. What I mean is that it just happens when it happens. I don't really consciously set out to do it. I figure when my subconscious needs me to come in and do things in my dreams it would just happen.

Many people put stock in dreams especially ones that happen early in the morning before they wake up. They say it is an omen or portent of something about to happen or is happening somewhere else. The fact of the matter is that it does not really happen all that often so it is difficult to draw conslusions. Maybe we should just let them happen when they happen and not think too much about it. Omens and portents are not really my cup of tea. I would prefer my dreams to be something that I would want to happen someday, something that I want and desire so much that I think about it all the time.

There are many books on lucid dreaming and I have read a number of them. I certainly think that more research should be conducted on this very fascinating facet of life. Dreams mean a lot to a lot of people and I am sure that however they view dreams and dreaming, there is a great deal of truth in how they see it. It is not really so easy to simplify dreams and the people who dream them.

----0000----

For peace of mind, try meditation

Why do we dash other people's dreams?

Walter Mitty lived in the dream world and it was real to him but it bothered a lot of people. We all know somebody like that, who always had something more to say about his life and what he has done and when we find out about the embellishment we begin to think a little differently about him. The Baron von Munchausen lived a life of adventure and a syndrome was named after him, the Munchausen syndrome where the patient fakes a disorder or illness in order to be the center of attention. Are all of these things distortions of dreams?

A child with a vivid imagination is admonished by his mother to "keep both feet on the ground", as if his imagination or dreaming is somehow unhealthy or undesirable. When a little girl acts and thinks like a princess and others think that she has airs and triy to bring her down to earth. Is this adverse reaction to dreaming or having a daream-life a natural reaction to keep people from rising above them? Is dreaming bad? Should it happen only when one is asleep? Can not one person have waking dreams where the external reality is merged with imagination and perhaps making life a little more interesting, enjoyable and livable?

Perhaps there is a natural fear of the mind and what it is capable of. The ancient Indian philosophers have called the expressed universe as the Dream of Brahma where all created beings are merely figments of the imagination of the Divine Dreamer. His dream has the magical quality of becoming real in the expressed universe. Do we perhaps share in that divine pastime and let our minds run wild and free in that indulgence we know as Dreaming? Could that be so bad that people who are firmly rooted on the ground and the hard reality that they live in, desire to dash and bash one's hopes and dreams in? This can be observed time and again. Jesus Christ was brutally killed and crucified for dreaming that he was the son of God.

The great Muslim mystic Imadedin Nasimi suffered the same fate at the hands of Muslim Fundamentalists who could not share his dream of divinity. The same fate befell Bahaullah, the mystic of the Baha'i faith. Dreams can be deadly.

Cool blogs basking in the blog park. Visit these pages:

Creation, life, consciousness

Day by day

Yamashita gold, gemstones and crystals

Am I asleep and dreaming?

Underdogs World

I have a dream

A very powerful speech by the late Dr, Martin Luther King starts with, "I have a dream..." and his dream ran into other people's idea of the world and got him killed. His was a powerful dream that challenged convention and the status quo. He dreamed of freedom and equality for everybody. Though he was a black man his dream was not in black and white; it was in color, like the beautiful rainbow.

When we dream of things that are not and we keep on dreaming, it may become real sooner or later whether lives are sacrificed or not. Dr. King had a dream bigger than himself. He dreamed for those who had given up their dreams. He gave them his dream and all who could hear him speak of his dream could not help but shudder at the power of his words and of the strength and majesty of the man who uttered them.

Today we see dreams shattered and scattered by the alleyways; of lives broken by drugs and alcohol; of broken promises that lay unfulfilled and empty as a bottle of cheap whiskey. I weep for the dreams of my youth; of the lost hopes that may never be realized. I weep for those whose dreams have grown insipid and stale. as mine had. become; I often dream of oblivion and how easy it would be to be without the ability to dreams when your dreams have abandoned you

Cool blogs basking in the Blog Park. Visit these pages:

Thoughts of the ideal world

The Blog Bum

The Blog Park

Karma and Science

Underdogs World

Dreams when hardened turn into reality

The Indian Scriptures talk of Brahma, the Creator sleeping on a sea of milk and He dreams. As he dreams, the Universe is created. Arthur Koestler in his book, The Roots of Coincidence talks of physicists discovering that the stuff of the universe appear to be mindstuff, which validates that which has been taken to be merely fanciful in the West, but but widely believed to be the Truth in the East. If one stops to reflect for a while on everyday realities one can conclude that Dreams indeed become reality. Henry Ford's dream created the automotive industry; Karl Marx's dream almost killed dreaming when he infected others with the idea that the material universe was all there is, and that Spirituality, or Religion was nothing more than an opiate. Mao tse tung said that power emanated from the barrel of a gun, taking Karl Marx's ideas to the extreme and he plunged a great nation to the brink of total bankruptcy of knowledge and ideals, nearly wiping out five thousand years of scientific knowledge unknown to the West.

When a man's dreams are taken away from him, he loses his creativity and reinforces the idea that 'the System' is too strong to oppose. It is a situation very much similar to a caged bird which refuses to fly away even when his cage door is opened.

Visit these pages:

Blog Crazy

Reaching out

Squeak smalltalk adventure

Nothing but flowers

Underdogs World

Dreams are played in the sub-conscious

Mind is commonly divided into three parts: conscious, sub-conscious, unconscious. Carl Jung writes extensively about the Unconscious which he characterizes as a portion of Reality where commonalities appear. He called these Archetypes or common themes appearing without regard to race or culture or locality. Ancient Indian and Chinese Philosophy also agree on this point while using different terminology.

It is said that dreaming occurs in the subconscious where the conscious mind has no control over. Furthermore, the unconscious sometimes reaches out into the subconscious as in the case of prophetic dreams. It is not only in dreaming that this can happen. The repository of all knowledge, the Unconscious sometimes in ordnary people but more often in highly evolved individuals, leaks into the subconscioius often in dreams and sometimes in waking visions and portray events yet to come.

Lucid dreaming is a method where the consious mind is made to observe and possibly participate in the dreaming process. Meditation on the other hand, is the conscious effort to tread into the subconscious while fully aware and conscious, and attempt to cross the bridge into the unconscious while fully in control of one's senses. It is as though the mind were reaching out to the Divine mind. This is called Sadhana in Sanskrit and Kung Fu in Chinese.

Remembering dreams

Dreams have always been fascinating to me and I suppose that everyone dreams or consider dreams to be of some importance in his or her life. But, the problem I had with dreams was that I could not remember them when I woke up. I often hear people talk about their dream the night before as though it was as clear as night and day. Some people also talk of dreaming in color and I thought, what a cool way to dream. Are people who dream in color somehow more intelligent or more creative and talented than those who just dream in black and white and maybe gray? Some dream experts suggest keeping a dream journal and I did just that.

I set aside a notebook and a pen close to my bed each night so I could reach out and write any dream that occurred that night. I read about Rapid Eye Movement or REM and how it signalled that the dreaming process was happening. Well, I just mentioned it because I think that's important to know. Anyway, I wrote down my dreams whenever I could wake up to write them. A problem with this is that it tends to drive dreams away when you wake up and interrupt the mental movie playing, so to speak. Going back to sleep and trying to continue the dream sems forced and contrived, and just doesn't work. In my teen years there were vivid dreams which were kinid of embarrassing when I wake up to find my underpants wet.

Everyone dreams, even dogs and cats

What is it about dreams that makes them universal to beings with suficiently-developed nervous systems? One can observe dogs to be behaving curiously when asleep as though they were dreaming. If this can be observed in dogs then I would conclude that other animals would have the same capability. We all know that dreams mostly occur in the brain and since animals have brains too then wouldn't it be reasonable to expect them to be capable of dreaming too? Do frogs dream of being princes? Are some princes really frogs at heart? Or, would that be insulting to a frog?

We human beings feel so superior to other creatures that we claim dominion over them as though everything is at our disposal. The bible proclaims that as our right. Does anyone question what the bible says? What if it is wrong? What if someone just made it up? There is really no way of knowing and so we go on thinking of ourselves as superior beings. Some of us human beings especially those with white skin think of themselves to be superior to those with darker skin. Can anyone just declare oneself to be better and greater than others? If we dream and if frogs dream can it be said that we are better than frogs? Maybe a frog's dream is more colorful than ours.

We know what the dream of most people are, that's something that's easy to enumerate: Money, cars, fame. adulation, power, beautiful women for men and maybe hunky men for women but these days even men dream of other men and women dream of other women so, who's to say?.Mostly we dream of being what we are not and of having what we do not have. It is of desiring more and more. Maybe this is the call of evolution: to raise oneself above what one is. Dreaming might not be such a bad thing after all.

Omens, portents...wouldn't it be nice to know the future?

The nicest thing about being a human being is having a conscious mind. We see and hear things outside of us and we also hear and see things inside our minds. Our thoughts can bring us to the past and the future faster than the speed of light. It is truly wonderful to have consciouisness. However, things are not so straightforward at all. Our memories can fail and we cannot readily tell the future. The present can often be something undesirable causing us to long for a more pleasant past and to aim for a much better future. In either case we utilize a faculty which never gets formally trained or developed: our imagination

We have a facility for dealing with a painful past and that is to forget it and pretend it never happened. This can be easy or hard depending on the person and the extent of the pain or unpleasantness. But, what we can rely on is the fact that our minds do help us cope with everyday situation. We see ourselves differently from the way other people see us. We can be forgiving of ourselves or hard with ourselves. We never see ourselves as we are hence, the need for analysts and support groups and life coaches. We need help to be ourselves.

In dreams we let go of the structures of the super-ego and just float away into pathways unknown to us. The Oracle at Delphi was an important destination in ancient Greece. Anyone seeking answers would go there and try to coax directions from the god. Psychics and mediums would fall asleep and see things which others could not. Edgar Cayce was called the Sleeping Prophet because he would of what he saw while asleep.

Recurring dreams, recurring themes....

I used to have recurring dreams of being chased or of flying and falling. There are many recorded accounts of dreams that make their way again and again into our subconscious wheere we have little or no control of what goes on in our minds. I read once of how dreams are dealt with in some parts of Malaysia, where dreamers are encouraged to take an active part in their dreams and to try to bring the dream to a conclusion which is desirable or satisfying to the dreamer. To take an example, if one is constantly menaced or chased by a tiger, the dreamer is encouraged to face the tiger and even to pet and stroke it.

My own experience deals with a very unpleasant dream of being chased by a witch or a demon flying easily through the air and terrorizing me. Sometimes I would make attempts at flying myself to facilitate an escape but to no avail because I wuld invariably lose altitude after a while and frantically flapping my arms would produce no tangible results. The funny thing was that nothing ever happened to me maybe because I would wake up in a sweat and discover it was all a dream.

Sweet Dreams are made of these...

About a third of every person's day is spent being unconscious, well more when you count the times when he is wandering off somewhere else while while you are talking to him. He can mask that and pretend that he is paying attention, a talent President George W, Bush is in short supply of. But to come to the point, everyone spends a great deal of time sleeping and in that span most likely he is also dreaming. What are dreams made of?

Are dreams a way of achieving what cannot be attained when awake, as in wish-fulfillment types of dreams? When you get the girl and feel every bit like Superman? Are they a way whereby God warns us of dire events or even to give us a hint of an impending death in the family? Are they a way for the mind to processi the vaeious inputs and stimuli of the day so that one is able to deal with another frantic, hectic day when one awakes?

What of dreams that we have when we're awake as in daydreams? When in reverie we recall some sweet long-gone moments that only seem sweeter with each recollection. What about dreams or visions of what we want our lives to be? The great things that we hope to achieve in our lifetimes? What function do they fulfill in our lives? Why are dreams so important?
